Stock Intelligence: What We'd Build for Serious Investors

Public company data is freely available. Most investors still can't use it properly. Here's the gap we see and how to close it.

The Information Problem

Every ASX-listed company publishes quarterly reports, annual statements, and announcements. It's all public. But reading and comparing 50 companies across 20 quarters is a full-time job.

Fund managers have Bloomberg terminals. Retail investors have... Google and PDFs.

What Already Exists

India's Screener.in is a good benchmark. Built by non-technical founders, it aggregates and presents stock financial data (P&L, balance sheet, ratios) in a clean, searchable format. Affordable subscription. Millions of users.

What Screener Does Well

10+ years of financial data per company
Standardised ratios calculated automatically
Custom screening queries
Peer comparison tools

What's Missing

Numbers are only half the story. The other half is in the text — management commentary, risk disclosures, strategic direction. That's where LLMs can help.

Earnings Call Summaries
Problem: Hour-long calls. Key info buried in Q&A.
Solution: LLM extracts key statements, sentiment, forward guidance
Risk Flag Detection
Problem: Auditor concerns hidden in footnotes.
Solution: Automated extraction of red flags, going concern notes
Management Tone Tracking
Problem: Subtle shifts in confidence often precede results.
Solution: Sentiment analysis across quarterly communications
Peer Comparison Narratives
Problem: Numbers compare easily. Strategy doesn't.
Solution: LLM-generated strategic positioning summaries

What We'd Build

Data Layer

20+ years of ASX company data. Quarterly financials, announcements, price history. Standardised, queryable, updated daily.

Intelligence Layer

LLM-powered analysis of text documents. Earnings call transcripts, annual reports, ASX announcements. Summaries, sentiment, red flags.

Delivery Layer

Weekly digests. Portfolio alerts. Custom screens. Email summaries of watched companies. Export to Excel.

Who'd Pay For This

Retail Investors

Self-directed investors who want institutional-grade insights without Bloomberg prices.

$20-50/month

Financial Advisors

Need to monitor client portfolios and explain holdings. Want summaries, not raw data.

$100-200/month

Small Funds

Boutique fund managers who can't justify Bloomberg but need systematic coverage.

$500-1000/month

Why We Haven't Built It (Yet)

This is a product idea, not a product. We've scoped it, we know how to build it, but we haven't because:

  • 1.We're focused on client work (prototypes and MVPs for SMEs)
  • 2.This needs 6-12 months of dedicated development to do properly
  • 3.Market validation would require pre-sales we haven't pursued

If you're interested in building something like this — as a founder, investor, or partner — we'd be happy to talk.

Got a Finance Product Idea?

We build prototypes to validate ideas before you commit to full development. If you're thinking about something in the finance/investment space, let's talk.
