FleetPro: Fleet Compliance & Route Optimisation

How GetPost Labs approaches transport compliance. NHVR fatigue management, EWD integration, and route optimisation in one platform.

Conceptual Prototype — Illustrating our approach

Executive Summary

The Problem: Transport operators receive NHVR fines because dispatchers can't see driver hours remaining. Routes are assigned based on availability, not compliance. EWD data entry is manual and error-prone.

The Solution: FleetPro shows every driver's remaining hours instantly, alerts before breaches happen, optimises routes for Hours of Service limits, and syncs EWD data automatically.

The Outcome: Operators achieve 100% NHVR compliance while actually increasing delivery capacity through smarter route planning.

The Challenge

Understanding the problem space

"We received $45K in NHVR fines in one quarter. Dispatchers were assigning jobs to drivers who had insufficient hours remaining."

— Owner, Murray Valley Transport, Melbourne

Heavy vehicle fatigue management is regulated by the NHVR under the Heavy Vehicle National Law. Drivers must comply with work and rest hour limits, and operators face significant penalties for breaches — up to $30,000 per offence.

Most operators track compliance manually or through basic EWD systems that don't integrate with dispatch. Dispatchers assign routes without visibility into remaining hours, and compliance issues are discovered at roadside checks — when it's too late.

How Compliance Is Guaranteed

Prevention, not penalty

Compliance moves from reactive (catching breaches) to proactive (preventing them):

Pre-Dispatch Checks

Before

Dispatcher checks spreadsheet of driver hours. Data may be hours old. Assigns route hoping driver has enough hours.

After

System shows real-time remaining hours. Blocks assignment if route would cause breach. Alternative drivers suggested.

Route Planning

Before

Driver takes familiar route regardless of current hours. Rest stops decided on the road. Fuel stops unplanned.

After

Route optimised for Hours of Service including mandatory rest stops, fuel stops, and estimated completion time.

Compliance Reporting

Before

Admin staff manually compile EWD records for audits. Takes days to prepare. Gaps discovered during the process.

After

Click "Generate Compliance Report" — complete EWD history, driver summaries, and breach report (if any) ready instantly.

User Journey

Sydney to Melbourne Delivery

Scenario: Urgent freight delivery from Sydney warehouse to Melbourne customer. Driver must comply with NHVR fatigue rules.

1
DispatcherCheck Driver Hours

Opens FleetPro dashboard. Sees John Smith has 9.5 hours remaining today, fully rested, compliant for long haul

2
FleetPro SystemRoute Optimisation

Calculates optimal route: 878km, ETA 6.5 hours. Includes mandatory rest stop at Albury. Fuel stop at Gundagai

3
DispatcherAssign Route

Clicks "Assign to John". Route, customer details, and delivery instructions pushed to driver app instantly

4
DriverStart Trip

John accepts job, starts trip. EWD automatically begins logging. GPS tracking active

5
FleetPro SystemLive Monitoring

Dispatcher sees real-time location. System monitors fatigue — at 5 hours, alerts John to take 30-min rest break

6
CustomerDelivery Notification

Customer receives SMS: "Your delivery is 45 mins away". Live tracking link included

7
DriverComplete Delivery

Delivers goods, captures POD signature on app. EWD auto-logs completion. Invoice generated immediately

Outcome: Delivery completed in 6.5 hours, 100% NHVR compliant. Zero fatigue violations.
